"Attending the annual meeting in Denver reminded me that neuroscience nursing is a unique niche and that we should be proud of our specialty. Interacting with other nurses at the conference inspired me to start a local chapter to promote further education and professionalism among neuroscience nurses. Our patients and their families look to us for information. I want to help my coworkers gain more knowledge and feel more empowered.
Less than two months after returning from the national conference, I held a meeting with thirty nurses from various units all interested in forming a local AANN chapter. The Agnes Marshall Walker Foundation travel grant not only allowed me to attend the meeting, but ultimately will have an impact on my local area as I begin our own local chapter." -Tracey Keeley, BSN, RN, SCRN, CNRN, Neurosurgey unit of the University of Virginia Medical Center
