Apply for Grants
The Agnes Marshall Walker Foundation (AMWF) supports its namesake’s belief that all nurses should have access to education and the opportunity for professional development. Donations raised will exclusively fund the AMWF grant program.
The grant awards include funds to
- attend the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) Annual Educational Meeting
- attend other educational programs
- support American Board of Neuroscience Nursing (ABNN) certification or recertification
- support neuroscience nursing research projects.
AANN Advances in Stroke Care Conference Grant
The AANN Advances in Stroke Care Conference Grant is awarded to provide financial assistance to neuroscience and stroke nursing professionals to advance their career by receiving funding to attend the AANN Advances in Stroke Care Conference. This grant can be used towards the registration fee for the conference. The total number of grant recipients will be determined by the AMWF Board of Directors.

The Neuro-APP Grant is awarded to neuroscience nursing professionals to provide financial assistance to attend the Neuroscience Advanced Practice Provider (Neuro-APP) Educational Symposium in March 2024. The grant is valued at $395 which can be used for registration and/or travel & hotel expenses. The total number of awards and amount of each award will be determined by the AMWF Board of Directors.

"Attending the annual meeting in Denver reminded me that neuroscience nursing is a unique niche and that we should be proud of our specialty. Interacting with other nurses at the conference inspired me to start a local chapter to promote further education and professionalism among neuroscience nurses. Our patients and their families look to us for information. I want to help my coworkers gain more knowledge and feel more empowered.
Less than two months after returning from the national conference, I held a meeting with thirty nurses from various units all interested in forming a local AANN chapter. AANN New Chapter Grant
The AANN New Chapter Grant is awarded to provide startup funding for AANN chapters in development or newly formed AANN Chapters (2 years or less). Funding can be used as a starting balance for a bank account, or for a project/program for a newer chapter.

AANN Nurses in the Media Grant
The AANN Nurses in the Media Program is a course designed to expand your expertise on media relations. To learn more about this program, visit the AANN Website. This grant covers the course registration for one neuroscience nurse to take the Nurses in the Media course.

The ABNN Certification Grant is awarded to neuroscience nurse professionals to provide financial assistance to those who have not yet obtained the Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) or Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) credential.

Collaborative ARN and Agnes Marshall Walker Foundation Research Grant
The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) Advancing Science and Practice Committee (AS&P) oversees the grant development, review, and selection process. Grant opportunities are made available from the generous donations of monetary gifts donated to the Rehabilitation Nursing Foundation (RNF) from members and non-members who value the mission of the RNF, which is advancing rehabilitation nursing practice by promoting and developing educational activities and scientific research to improve the quality of health care to individuals. All grants are approved by the ARN Board of Directors.

Linda Littlejohns Neuro Education Grant Application
This grant was established in honor and recognition of Linda Littlejohns MSN RN CNRN SCRN FAAN, Past President and Secretary/Treasurer of AMWF and AANN and a longtime supporter of neuroscience nursing. Linda is regarded as a neuroscience nursing expert and has authored and presented topics related to the neuroscience patient population for over 25 years to a worldwide audience.
The purpose of this grant is to support continuing education not covered by other AMWF grants and provide any neuroscience nurse or group of neuroscience nurses the opportunity to advance their knowledge.
